2024 LMIC Awards

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 31 May 2024
Requirements: Abstract, Letter of Recommendation, fully completed online Application submitted.

For the participation of vaccine researchers from Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs)

In-Person Awards: ISV Congress Registration Fee and Dragon City Hotel Accommodation up to 4 nights of ISV Congress attendance. Awardees are responsible for travel costs.
ISV In-Person Participation Awards are valid for participation in the 2024 ISV Annual Congress at the Dragon City Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, 21-23 October 2024. To receive support, selected awardees must present their abstract in-person as well as on the online platform.

Eligibility
Applicants must be from a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) whose place of research or source of stipend is from an LMIC.

Terms & Conditions
Awards are intended for participation at the 2024 ISV Annual Congress and are not given retrospectively.    One award per person. Award winners from the recent past congress are not eligible.    In-Person Awards are not intended to cover the full cost of participation; awardees are responsible for airfare, ground transportation, and costs associated with travel.     Applicants must provide details of other financial support available and obtain required travel documents (current passport, entry visa etc.).   Financial support is not available for applicants from US-Sanctioned Countries. All applicants must provide a signed letter of recommendation in English on Institutional letterhead from a supervisor or head of department that verifies: the applicant’s career stage, confirms the applicant is in good standing in their program, confirms a source of stipend funding, and provides a statement of evaluation / or support of the applicant that makes clear what the applicant’s research / work contribution is in the submitted Abstract and indicate any specific attributes of the applicant. Applicants must complete the relevant drop boxes to provide: a brief statement justifying interest in attending the ISV Annual Congress and a brief statement in English describing how participation at the ISV Annual Congress will be of benefit to their career.    All Awardees are required to:   upload and present their abstracts on the virtual platform, and provide a summary of the educational, collaborative or career value gained within one month of the conclusion of the ISV Annual Congress. Applicants agree that the ISV may use any images taken of award recipients at the Congress in ISV Communications and on the website.

Assessment Criteria
The assessment panel of the Awards Committee and Congress C0-Chairs will review all applications, abstracts, and letters of support to select on the basis of quality, research relevancy and originality, evidence of ability to fully participate, geographic diversity, and intention to disseminate information gained to colleagues and peers of their institution.

ISV Annual Meeting Awards

The Distinguished Service Award recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to, or contributions to the ISV’s mission to advance knowledge, education, and awareness of vaccine sciences to the community.  Exemplary service may include significant and sustained leadership; logistics; or operational expertise in serving and promoting the ISV.

The Excellence in Advancing Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Award recognises an ISV member who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to promote the Society’s principles and programs advancing a more globally diverse and inclusive field of vaccine scientists (students, trainees, and early career professionals) and leaders of the ISV.

The International Society for Vaccines is an organization that engages, supports, and sustains the professional goals of a diverse membership in all areas relevant to vaccines and immunotherapeutics.  The ISV is a global not-for-profit organization that aims to encourage, establish, and promote the development and use of vaccines to prevent and control infectious and non-infectious diseases in animals and humans.
